Can I take musical instruments with me as hand baggage?
We will accept musical instruments as hand baggage providing they are no larger than a guitar.
With larger sized pieces of luggage, we differentiate as follows:
- Those in a soft case: musical instruments in a soft case cannot be transported as checked baggage and you must therefore book an additional seat (subject to availability) for them.
- If you are transporting your instrument in a hard case, it can be stowed in the hold. In this event, the weight of the instrument is deducted from your free baggage allowance.
Double basses cannot be transported in the cabin under any circumstances due to their length.
Germanwings does not accept any liability for musical instruments transported in the cabin.
