What costs are there to pay when I hand in luggage?
There is a luggage surcharge for Germanwings flights booked after 19 May 2008. The surcharge is levied on pieces of luggage handed in at the check-in desk. You can register luggage during and after the booking process. The surcharge amounts to € 5 (on domestic German flights add 19% VAT) per leg and passenger.
If you register luggage at the airport, the surcharge goes up to € 10 (on domestic German flights add 19% VAT) per piece of luggage.
If you hand in more than 23 kg (for flights after 28 March 2009: 20 kg) of luggage, a supplement for excess luggage will be levied. The charge is € 7 per kilo of excess luggage (on domestic German flights add VAT).
There are special provisions for the transport of sport equipment and special baggage.
Please note:
For passengers who booked their flights before 19 May 2008 there is no luggage surcharge.
